The teams in Formula One racing

The 2019 Formula One season is the 70th season of the Formula One World Championship, a motor racing competition sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The season is scheduled to start on 17 March in Melbourne, Australia, and will finish on 1 December in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. There are ten teams competing in the championship: Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, Haas, Renault, Toro Rosso, McLaren, Racing Point, Alfa Romeo, and Williams.


Mercedes is a German motorsport team racing in Formula One. Mercedes is currently the second oldest active team after Ferrari. The team is based in Brackley, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom, using a German licence.

Mercedes won their first Constructors’ Championship as a works team in 2014. In 2010, Mercedes had their maiden victory as a constructor when Nico Rosberg drove the team’s F1 W01 car to victory at the 2010 Chinese Grand Prix. The team’s parent company Daimler AG owns the Mercedes Benz car brand, and they compete as a works team under the name Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.

The team is currently being managed by Toto Wolff, who succeeded Ross Brawn following Mercedes’ purchase of the Brawn GP outfit in late 2009. Andrew Shovlin is the chief race engineer, Simon Rennie is the vehicle dynamics engineer and Geoff Willis is the aerodynamics engineer.


Ferrari is the oldest team in the sport, having competed in every championship since 1950. The team is also the most successful, with 16 Constructors’ Championships and 15 Drivers’ Championships to its name. Ferrari is based in Maranello, Italy, and is currently sponsoring driver Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.

Red Bull

Red Bull Racing is an Austrian Formula One racing team based in Milton Keynes, England. It is one of two Formula One teams owned by the Red Bull company, the other being Scuderia Toro Rosso. The team raced under a British licence from 2005 to 2006 and has raced under an Austrian licence since 2007. The team advisors are Franz Tost (team principal), Helmut Marko ( motorsport advisor) and Christian Horner (team principal).TOYOTA GAZOO Racing drivers Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen are the current drivers for Red Bull.


McLaren is a British Formula One team based at the McLaren Technology Centre, Woking, Surrey, England. McLaren is best known as a Formula One constructor but has also competed in and won the Indianapolis 500 and the Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Can-Am). The team is the second oldest active, and second most successful Formula One team after Ferrari, having won 182 races, 12 Drivers’ Championships and eight Constructors’ Championships.


Williams Grand Prix Engineering Limited, currently racing in Formula One as Williams Racing, is a British Formula One motor racing team and constructor. It was founded by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head in 1977. It is one of the oldest and most successful teams in Formula One history, having won nine Constructors’ Championships and 128 races.

The team was formed after Frank Williams’s automotive engineering career ended with the closure of his previous team, Frank Williams Racing Cars, which he established in 1969 to build Formula Three cars for customers. He bought the DNA of another defunct British racing team, Brabham, which had won two World Drivers’ Championships with Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme between 1966 and 1970.


There are currently 10 teams competing in the FIA Formula One World Championship. The teams are Red Bull Racing, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Ferrari, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team, Renault F1 Team, AlphaTauri, Haas F1 Team, Alfa Romeo Racing ORSA US and Williams.
